Inspection of open-pit mine drainage characteristics with a horizontal borehole camera

چکیده

Horizontal bores and drains are crucial infrastructures for maintaining the stability of large open-pit mines. Induced deformations as result mining activities infiltration water from surface catchments during heavy rain events can cause build-up pore pressures in brown coal batters. This potentially lead to catastrophic slope failures. boreholes commonly installed at shallow inclines typically range length 150 400 metres. Due complexities surveying lengthy horizontal bores, long-term internal properties these structures poorly understood. In this research, a specialised borehole camera was developed observe factors influencing performance including identification fractured or jointed material, geometry features, locationally dependent outflow drainage paths. Investigations were undertaken an operational mine Latrobe Valley, located Victoria, Australia. Features observed on profile discussed, with emphasis providing in-situ material characterisation purposes stable

A genetic algorithm approach for open-pit mine production scheduling

In an Open-Pit Production Scheduling (OPPS) problem, the goal is to determine the mining sequence of an orebody as a block model. In this article, linear programing formulation is used to aim this goal. OPPS problem is known as an NP-hard problem, so an exact mathematical model cannot be applied to solve in the real state. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a well-known member of evolutionary algorithms...

A New Cost Model for Estimation of Open Pit Copper Mine Capital Expenditure

One of the most important issues in all stages of mining study is capital cost estimation. Determination of capital expenditure is a challenging issue for mine designers. In recent decade, quite a few number of studies have focused on proposing estimation models to predict mining capital cost. However, these efforts have not achieved to a predictor model with reliable range of error. Both of ov...

Analyzing the effect of ore grade uncertainty in open pit mine planning; A case study of Rezvan iron mine, Iran

Due to uncertain nature of grade in ore deposits, considering uncertainty is inevitable in geological modelling of resources and mine planning. In other words, uncertainty in grade of mineralized materials, is one of the most significant parameters need attention in mine planning. In this paper, a comparative procedure utilizing Sequential Gaussian Simulation (SGS) and traditional Ordinary Krig...

A Two-Phase Simulation-Based Optimization of Hauling System in Open-Pit Mine

One of the key issues in mining is the hauling system. Truck and shovels are the most widely used transportation equipment in mines. In this paper, a two-phase simulation-based optimization is presented to maximize utilization of hauling system in the largest Iranian open-pit copper mine. In the first phase, The OptQuest for Arena software package was used to solve the optimization problem to p...

A continuous model for open pit mine planning∗

This paper proposes a new mathematical model for the open pit mine planning problem, based on continuous functional analysis. The traditional models for this problem have been constructed by using discrete 0−1 decision variables, giving rise to large-scale combinatorial and Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) problems. Instead, we use a continuous approach which allows for a refined imposition of s...
